Adhoc teachers to host National Education Day celebration with CM as chief guest

Gangtok, 23 Sept: All Sikkim Adhoc Teachers & Temporary Employees Association [ASATTEA] is

gearing up to celebrate National Education Day 2021 in grand manner on 11 November with a

special event at Saramsa in East District. A celebration committee was formed during an executive

meeting of the association on 21 September, it is informed. Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, chief coordinator of the committee, Rajesh Dahal, mentioned that Chief Minister PS Tamang

has consented to attend as the chief guest. He added that the celebration would be “historic” as the CM is expected to make important announcements regarding the new education and teacher recruitment policy. The ASATTEA celebration committee has Education Minister KN Lepcha as chief patron, while Minister Sanjit Kharel, Political Secretary to the CM, Jacob Khaling, chairperson Housing Board, Karma Tashi Bhutia and Lakpa Moktan have been appointed patrons. He added that other

committees have also been formed and coordinators appointed to ensure a grand National Education Day celebration. The celebration committee has decided to invite all legislators, chairpersons and Advisors of the government along with the Chief Secretary and heads of government departments.

Celebration committee president, Yogesh Sharma, adds that the association has also decided

to invite representatives from Sikkim Teachers Association, associations of temporary employees and fresh candidates appearing for interviews. He added that it was important for them to attend the celebration to listen to the historic announcements to be made by the CM. He informed that tripartite

talks were also scheduled to be held between the CM, Education Department and ASATTEA to discuss various issues.
