Anit Thapa gives 5 days ultimatum to cancel Bansal Group lease

The protest against tea garden owners, Bansal Group, in front of District Magistrate office Darjeeling entered its second day today.

From last two months, workers of 10 tea gardens under Bansal Group have not got their salaries.

Addressing the public,president of Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatrantik Morcha,Anit Thapa said that he is not supporting the protest to win the GTA election.

“GTA is not important for me, but I care for those students who have recently cleared their boards. I am worried for their future, if they have to stop their education because of financial problems and even if my candidature for GTA electiongets rejected because of this statement I don't care,” said Mr Thapa.

He informed that he spoke with the DM today and requested him to cancel the lease of the Bansal Group at the earliest.

He gave a five-day ultimatum for the lease to be cancelled.

“If nothing happens within 5 days then we will run the tea garden on our own but this will not happen if everyone is not united. So I want to request every tea garden worker to come and support us," he said.
