ASSCWA accuses Tinkitam upper caste family of discrimination

All Sikkim Scheduled Caste Welfare Association (ASSCWA) has submitted a petition to the office of the Superintendent of Police, South, accusing an upper caste family of Tinkitam of discrimination based on caste.
Addressing a press conference in Namchi today, ASSCWA president, ShekharSewa informed that a man belonging to the SC community eloped with a woman married to a man belonging to the upper caste community in Tinkitam.
Following this the in-laws of the woman carried out her last rites and performed purification rituals.The woman, on the other hand, belongs to the OBC category.
ASSCWA urged the office of SP South to immediately arrest the Tinkitam family and were then directed to file an FIR in Ravangla.
