At 1.7%, test positivity rate continues to remain low in Sikkim

Daily test positivity rate for Covid continues to remain low in Sikkim and came in at 1.7% on Tuesday with five new cases detected from the screening of 228 samples yesterday.

All five cases were registered in East District.

The Daily Report of COVID-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department this morning, the state’s tally of confirmed cases of COVID-19 cases has now reached 32,436.

On the other hand, seven COVID patients were discharged from home isolation after making full recoveries to further improve the number of recovered cases in Sikkim to 31,496. Sikkim’s current recovery rate for Covid stands at 98.1%.

No new Covid deaths were reported in the State in the past 24 hours and the toll continues to hold at 406.

There are 193 active cases of Covid-19 in the State at present, of whom only 11 have symptoms severe enough to require hospitalization, of whom two are in ICU. There is no under 18 year old Covid patient in hospital at present.

On Monday, 164 people received Covishield jabs here, following which 135 people completed their vaccine schedule while 29 received their first dose of the vaccine.
