Bachha-Shiksha Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi in Gyalshing


Gyalshing, 12 Sept (IPR):

The 12th Day of Bachha-Shiksha Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi was observed at DPCA Anganwadi centre under the month long Poshan Maah activities being carried out. DC Gyalshing, Y.D.Yongda attended the programme. In attendance were CDPO Gyalshing HB Shanker, Principal, DPCA, Coordinator, Supervisor, Anganwadi workers of the centre and surrounding areas, school and Anganwadi children, lactating mothers with infants. A live demonstration of a fresh hot meal consisting of rice kheer, khichddi and pumpkin paratha was displayed to all present.


DC Gyalshing drew the attention of the children to the food being prepared and interacted with them. She asked if they knew the significance of the month long Poshan Maah being observed and spoke on the difference between home cooked fresh meals vis a vis junk snacks such as Waiwai,Kurkure and frozen foods which the kids of today hugely consume.

She explained in detail the long term repercussions of snacking and consuming sugary drinks such as aerated fizzy drinks in which preservatives were used. Such foods may be good to taste but does not provide any nutrient she added. She also drew their attention to the display corner of fresh vegetables, fruits, milk and eggs and encouraged the kids to consume fresh home cooked meals.


CDPO Gyalshing thanked the DC for sparing her precious time for the programme. He touched upon the key points of the Poshan Maah. The programme was moderated by Supervisor, ICDS.


A signature campaign on the display board was also carried out by all present.
