BCCI appoints SICA head as manager of India U19 World Cup team

Gangtok, 21 Dec:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed president of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA), Lobzang G Tenzing as the Manager of India Under-19 Team that will play in the Asia Cup tournament organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in the UAE from December 23 and ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in West Indies from 14 Jan.

BCCI Secretary named Mr Tenzing as the Under-19 Team Manager for the Asia Cup tournament to be played from 23–31 December and ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup to be played from 14 Jan to 05 Feb, 2022. Mr Tenzing has been the president of SICA since 2016, and under his dynamic leadership, the small state has made its mark in the East Zone with its men and women’s teams under different age categories.

“I am pleased and honoured to be in the presence of the future cricket stars of the country. I hope to bring some dazzles of these stars back home and to our region. I am also immensely thankful to secretary BCCI, Jay Shah for giving me such honour and responsibility. His concern and commitment for developing NE is real and it shows in his action,” said Mr Tenzing.

The Sikkim Cricket Association has said that it is proud that BCCI has reposed trust in Mr Tenzing’sadministrative abilities by appointing him as the Manager of the India Under-19 team and also feels that his new responsibility will give a boost to the confidence of the Northeast cricket associations in producing national-level players and administrators of the game.
