Binay leaves, but GJM-2 remains; Names Anit as prez for now

Following the resignation of Binay Tamang from his post as president and the party, the Gorkha Jamnukti Morcha’s breakaway faction today named Anit Thapa as the temporary president until party elections are held and a new president chosen.

This was decided at a GJM-2 central committee meeting held in Kurseong today.

Party spokesperson, Keshavraj Pokhrel, insisted that the faction has not been dissolved.

Anit Thapa was officiating as general secretary of GJM-2 thus far and claimed thet “99%” of the party’s leaders along with supporters were present at the Kurseong meeting today.

While he was unanimously selected the caretaker president the faction is yet to formalize a name itself, the GJM –Binay faction no longer applicable since Binay Tamang has resigned from the party as well.

He also dismissed suggestions that their faction was planning to merger with GJM-Bimal faction, highlighting that their group received more votes than the other side at the recent assembly elections.
