Citizens Foundation has finished installing 150 Solar Street Lights at Pakyong under HDFC Parivartan

SUMMIT REPORT

Pakyong, 13 Jan:

Citizens Foundation has commenced several activities in Sikkim under HDFC Parivartan across different focus areas e.g., education, health, livelihood and natural resource management. Team SOULS Sikkim is delighted to declare that it has successfully finished installing 150 solar street lights in 10 villages of Amba and Thekabong Parakha GPU of Pakyong sub-division, as an impactful and effective way to accelerate the project activities. The solar street lights have been installed in the public places e.g., temples, churches, schools, Anganwadi centres, evening markets, etc. as per the demand and convenience of the local community and approval from Panchayat President as well as Village Development Committee. 4499 People of those 10 project villages are being greatly benefitted from these 150 solar street lights as there is a huge crisis of frequent power cut in this area. On the basis of special request and demand from the community, 10 solar street lights have been installed in Bandey Pokhrel viewpoint at Takshang Kaizaley village of Amba GPU, which is a new rural tourism place. Hopefully this activity would draw a significant impact on the community by virtue of illuminating the public places and sensitising the community to adopt environment friendly renewable energy.
