Citizens Foundation revamps 6 Aanganwadi Centres

Gangtok, 04 Apr: An Aanganwadi Centre at Takshang Kaizaley ward [Amba GPU], revamped by Citizens Foundation, was inaugurated today. The undertaking is supported by HDFC Parivartan's HRDP-SOULS project and will have Citizens Foundation Sikkim revamp six Annganwadi Centres at Amba and Thekabong Parakha GPUs of Pakyong sub-division, East Sikkim, a press release informs. Today's inauguration had social worker Ravi Shankar Kumar Singh as chief guest accompanied by Ganesh Reddy, Secretary and CEO, Citizens Foundation, Rajeev Kamal Bittu, and Amna Devi Basnett, ward panchayat and vice president of Amba GPU. Also today, a student from an underprivileged family who is appearing for class X board exam and the AWW were gifted solar lamps. After the inauguration, Citizens Foundation staff along with the guests visited the model farm developed under HDFC Parivartan at Bageswari ward of Thekabong Parakha GPU and interacted with the FPG members and lead farmer.

Turmeric seeds were also donated to some farmers in a bid to promote organic spice cultivation

under SOULS project, it is informed.
