Cleanliness drive organized at Rangpo

Rangpo, 14 Jan:

A town-wide cleanliness drive was organized at Rangpo, the border town of Sikkim today. The drive was supervised by the Rangpo Police Station, in participation with All Taxi Drivers’ Welfare Association, Rangpo and other NGOs wherein the entire town underwent a thorough cleaning as the entire business communities, drivers and the local residents came forward to make the cleanliness drive a grand success. The SDPO Rangpo, SHO Rangpo also participated and supervised the cleanliness campaign. Rangpo Fire Station also played its part in the campaign.

SHO Rangpo, said that this was more targeted to be an awareness campaign than a day-long cleanliness drive. The police have been very strict on keeping the surroundings clean and have appealed the citizens to dump the garbage directly into the municipality garbage trucks every morning. The citizens are being penalized on breaking the rules and necessary steps will be taken to maintain a clean town.

Each household and shop contributed to clean the surrounding areas around them which were coupled by the efforts of the drivers, fire station personal and local public in clean the entire Rangpo Bazar.
