CM attends finals of inter-branch volleyball tourney at Pipaley


Soreng, 15 Jun [IPR]: As part of the ongoing quasquicentennial celebration marking the 125th year of Sikkim Police,the finals of the inter-branch volleyball tournament was played today at the 2nd IRBn Headquatre, Pipalay.

The final match had Chief MinisterPrem Singh Tamang as chief guest along with his spouse, Krishna Rai.

The invited guests also included Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Panchayat Presidents, DGP A. Sudhakar Rao, Bhim Thatal (DC/Soreng), KDShangdarpa, Commandant (IRB), esteemed dignitaries from Sikkim Police, officials from district offices and local gentry.

The inter-branch volleyball tournament had started on 02 June and concluded today with Special Branch emerging winners and Home Guard and Civil Defence team the runners-up.

In order to encourage the players and the spirit of the game, the Chief Minister awarded cash prizes of Rs 3 lakh to the winning team, Rs 2 lakh to the runners-up, Rs One lakh each for the semi-finalists, Rs 50,000 each for the other participating teams and Rs 10,000 each to all the officiating personnel.

The program also included the felicitation of the CM by the DGP on behalf of the department. Earlier, the event commenced with a brief welcome speech delivered by the DGP.

Before the tournament, the CM also inaugurated the newly constructed Sikkim Police Faculty building at the 2nd IRBn Camp.
