Gangtok, 11 Jan: Chief Minister, PS Tamang joined Chief Ministers of other states and the representatives of all the States/ UTs of India in a video conference today called by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi regarding the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. The vaccination process will commence

from 16 January, 2021. For the first phase, almost 3 crore individuals throughout the country consisting of health workers and frontline-warriors have registered. In a Facebook post, the CM informed

that individuals representing the scientific community of the country briefed everyone about the vaccines. “They informed us that the vaccines are completely safe for use and have been formulated by following proper global guidelines. They explained that the vaccines are immunogenic and two

doses will be required,” he wrote. The CM wrote that the Prime Minister urged everyone to follow the SOPs and ensure that other health facilities and vaccinations will not be affected by the process. He emphasised on proper utilisation of the COWIN app for registration and providing real-time updates. The app will also serve as a reminder for individuals who have registered to be vaccinated. He also asserted

on regulating rumours and fake information regarding the vaccine and directed all to create awareness among the citizens. He added that leaders, including himself, will be vaccinated in the second

phase and asserted for the first phase to include only health workers and frontline warriors.

“Sikkim is fully prepared for administering the vaccine and has already finished dry runs throughout the State. We have prepared proper logistics for transferring the vaccines and established more than 35 cold-chain points to store the vaccines under regulated temperature,” the CM informed. The CM wrote that the country’s scientific community has successfully formulated vaccines within the country,

setting a precedent for 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. “On behalf of Sikkim, I thank and congratulate the scientific community for a commendable job. I would also like to extend my gratitude towards the Hon'ble Prime Minister for his exemplary suggestions during the pandemic. I believe that under his able leadership,

India will reach new milestones in the years to follow,” the CM added.
