CM inaugurates multi-purposecommunity center at Pani HouseMUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN FIRST WEEK OF APR
Gangtok, 02 Feb: Chief Minister PS Tamang inaugurated the multi-purpose community center at Pani House in Gangtok today. The center has been constructed on an area measuring 76,040 square meters at a cost of Rs 2.1 crore. Under construction since 2014, the centre was finally completed on 18 September 2020. The CM was present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the multi-purpose community building constructed at Pani house under Upper Tadong area. Urban Development
Minister, Arun Upreti was the special guest along with Area MLA, GT Dhungel, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Jacob Khaling and heads of various departments. The CM, in his address, thanked and congratulated the concerned department and Shiva Gram Seva Samiti. He said that the work done by
the committee was exemplary and other societies should learn from it. He said that participation of the people is essential for the development of society and this community building is for the entire population of Gangtok. The Chief Minister said that relief materials were distributed to 132,000 families during the pandemic, Rs 30,000 to patients taken for outpatient treatment, Rs 5,000 to students and Rs 5,000 to drivers. Stating that the present government is making excellent progress in the field of health, he said that now there is no need to go outside the state for treatment of complex diseases related to kidney and heart. He accused the previous government of distributing cookers and water filters only in urban areas and said that the current government has done the same in rural areas as well. He added that houses
will soon be built for the poor living in urban areas. Till now only those who have COI were getting basic
facilities of the government but now those who have voter card will also be provided cash for treatment and other facilities, said the CM. The Chief Minister also informed that the municipal elections will be held in the first week of April this year. He congratulated Sikkim Police for being one of the best police departments in the country. Area MLA, GT Dhungel said that the present government has made a great contribution by constructing community buildings. He claimed that development takes time but development is taking place not only in his constituency but in every constituency of Sikkim. Shiva Gram Seva Samiti president, CS Rai said that their organization has been contributing to the society since 1985. The association honored Gangaram Sapkota, Deepa Tamang , Prashant Tamang and Nalini Gupta Pradhan for their contribution in the construction of the building. The program, organized
by Shiva Gram Seva Samiti under the joint auspices of Urban Development Department, was conducted by Bharat Pradhan.
