Community outreach program in Harkamaya College of Education

With an aim to raise an awareness regarding the rampant substance abuse taking place in Sikkim and to fight the menace of substance abuse from the grass root level in the society, SAATHI team organized a one day training Program at Harkamaya College of Education on 03 Jun, 2022.

A total of 90 students from Harkamaya College as well as Damber Singh College along with the principal and faculty members attended the program. Entire program was organised to train the students on Basic Skills of Counselling also to explain them about the role an individual can play to effectively combat substance abuse from the grass root level. They were also briefed about the importance of de-stigmatization and reintegration of individuals who are victims of substance use disorders.

Experts from different fields like Asst Professor,DrManorathDahal, SCERT, took motivational session. Professor, DrGeetaSoohinda,Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Science, took a session on Basic Skills of Counselling and Coordinator, Prashant Sharma,Sikkim Drug Users Forum took session on Rehabilitation & Reintegration.

An interactive conversation took place wherein students, Principal and faculties took active participation and clarified their queries. In this program, students also performed different songs.
