Covid claims one more life,infects 60 others in Sikkim
Gangtok, 22 Sept: Sikkim’s Covid death toll inched up to 381 on Wednesday with the virus claiming one
more life in the past 24 hours in the State. This death was reported from STNM Hospital and is the second COVID death reported so far this week. Meanwhile, as per the Daily Report of COVID-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of the Health Department, 60 new
Covid cases were picked up from the testing of 691 samples on Tuesday, giving Sikkim a daily test
positivity rate of 8.6%. Of the new cases, 34 were detected in RT-PCR testing of 360 samples and 26 from rapid antigen testing of 328 samples. While 30 of the new cases were registered in East District, 20 were in West District and 10 in South District. The tally of confirmed Covid cases in Sikkim has
now reached 31,074. In the meantime, 41 more people were discharged from home and facility isolation yesterday to further improve the number of fully recovered cases here to 29,741. There are currently 642 active Covid cases in the State, most of whom are recovering under home or facility isolation and only a handful hospitalized. Of those in hospital, only seven are currently admitted
in ICU facilities at STNM Hospital, Central Referral Hospital, and Namchi District Hospital. On the other hand, Sikkim administered 3,126 doses of Covishield vaccine in the State on Tuesday, of whom 3,031
people completed their vaccination schedule with the second dose and 95 received their first jab.
