Covid claims one more, Sikkim’s toll reaches 393

Covid claimed one more life in Sikkim in the past 24 hours when a Covid patient passed away at STNM Hospital. The State’s Covid toll now stands at 393. Sikkim had recorded its first Covid fatality on 26 July last year.

Meanwhile, the daily test positivity rate came in at 3.2% today with 17 new cases detected from the testing of 523 samples on Tuesday. Of these 17 cases, 11 were registered in East District, two in West District and four in South District.

As per the Daily Report of COVID-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department, while 11 cases were picked up in RT-PCR testing of 396 samples, 06 more tested positive in rapid antigen testing of 125 samples. Sikkim’s tally of confirmed Covid cases has now reached 31,800.

On the other hand, active cases have come down to 175 with 22 more people making full recoveries in the past 24 hours. The number of recovered cases has accordingly improved to 30,914 and the current recovery rate stands at 98.2%.

Nine more COVID patients were hospitalized in the State in the past 24 hours while four COVID patients are currently admitted in ICU facilities in the State.
