Covid claims two more lives in Sikkim, toll reaches 375

Sikkim’s Covid death toll climbed to 375 on Monday with the virus claiming two more lives in the last 24 hours. Of the two deaths, one was registered at STNM Hospital and the other at Namchi District Hospital in South District.
While the fatalities remain worrying, infections and test positivity rates have dropped substantially. As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim issued by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department this morning, the test positivity rate for the last 24 hours came in at 4.5% with the 14 new cases being detected from the testing of 308 samples on Sunday.
Of these 14 new cases, four were reported in East District, four in West District and six in South District.
While 122 samples were screened via RT-PCR of which six returned positive, eight cases were picked up from 183 samples put through Rapid Antigen Testing.
Sikkim’s tally of confirmed Covid cases has now reached 30,256.
On the other hand, 62 more COVID patients made full recoveries and were released from home and facility isolation on Sunday further improving the number of recovered cases to 28,679.
There are currently 913 active Covid cases in the State.
Meanwhile, there were only two new hospitalizations of Covid patients yesterday while there are 10 COVID patients currently in ICU facilities at STNM Hospital and Central Referral Hospital.
