COVID dip continueswith only 2 fresh cases


GANGTOK, 03 Feb: Sikkim has witnessed only two fresh cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The samples of one person from Bank Dara, Chujachen in Rongli and another person from near District Court reported positive for COVID-19. Sikkim’s tally of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 6098, in which 5782 persons have been discharged from isolation facilities. There are currently 86 active

cases of novel coronavirus in the state. In his daily health bulletin on Wednesday, Health Department

State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia informed that two new cases were reported from the testing

of 181 samples on Tuesday. He added that both cases were detected in RT-PCR testing of 137

samples, while TrueNat testing of 11 samples and rapid antigen testing of 33 samples returned

negative for COVID-19. Mr Bhutia mentioned that the two persons, who reported positive in yesterday health bulletin and were not traceable, have still not contacted the concerned authorities. While revealing

their names, he urged 26-year-old Suraj Rai from Dethang and 41-year-old Sanjay Kadam, who has just mentioned Club Mahindra as his address, to immediately contact health authorities. However, he stated

that representatives of Club Mahindra in Sikkim have informed that there was no person by the name Sanjay Kadam presently in Club Mahindra. He informed that five persons with their address as Club Mahindra came for testing, in which just one tested positive for COVID-19. He once again urged the person to immediately contact health authorities. Mr Bhutia informed that a total of 751 persons

were vaccinated in different parts of Sikkim on Wednesday. While giving a break-up of today’s

vaccination, he informed that 264 persons in East District [Rural], 80 in STNM hospital, 100 in Central Referral Hospital, Tadong, 126 in West District and 181 in South District were vaccinated.
