Covid infections back to zero in Sikkim
Gangtok, 08 May:
The number of active cases of Covid-19 in Sikkim held at 2 on Sunday with neither any new infections nor any new recoveries recorded here in the past 24 hours. Both are down with severe symptoms and admitted in ICU.
As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department on Sunday morning, all the 101 samples screened here in the past 24 hours returned negative.
Most of the samples were collected in East district  while one sample each was tested in South and West districts and three in North Sikkim.
With today’s 0% test positivity rate, Sikkim’s average TPR for the past seven days works out to 0.1%.
No Covid deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours and the toll continues to hold at 452, a number Sikkim had reached on 27 March, 2022.
On the vaccination front, 1,387 children aged between 12 to 14 received their CorBEvax shots yesterday [80 first dose, 1,307 second dose]. While 66.26% of the children in this age-group has received at least the first dose of the vaccine, 33.08% have also completed their vaccination schedule.
In the 15-18 age-group, 212 received their Covaxin shots on Saturday [82 first dose, 130 second dose], while 68 adults received their Covishield shots. Another 102 received their precautionary third dose yesterday as well.
