Covid infections continue to drop in Sikkim

Sikkim’s recovery rate for Covid-19 inched up to 98.8% on Monday and the State’s count of recovered cases reached 37,869 with five more Covid patients making full and getting discharged from home isolation in the past 24 hours.

As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department on Monday morning, only two fresh cases were recorded in the past 24 hours from the screening of 93 samples at a daily test positivity rate of 2.2%.

What is more, no Covid deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. The Covid death toll in Sikkim continues to hold at 443. The last Covid fatality here was reported on 27 February.

While the low numbers and no new deaths are reassuring, data also reveals that after a few days of having no severe infections, yesterday, two Covid patients came down with severe symptoms.

Meanwhile, of the 34 active cases in the State, apart from the two patients with severe symptoms, one patient has presented moderate symptoms while 31 are either asymptomatic or have only mild symptoms.

There are seven Covid patients in hospital at present, two in the ICU, one of whom is on ventilator support.
