Covid positivity rate dips with only 23 new cases

GANGTOK, 31 Aug:

Sikkim’s daily positivity rate of Covid-19 declined to 5.34% on Wednesday with 23 new cases of coronavirus reported in the last 24 hours. Of the 23 new cases in the State, 09 cases were registered in Gangtok district, 02 in Gyalshing district, 03 in Soreng district and 09 in Namchi district.

According to the daily Covid-19 report released by Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department, 11 cases were reported in RT-PCR testing of 196 samples and 12 more persons were found in the rapid antigen testing of 234 samples.

The state tally of confirmed cases of covid-19 has now reached 43,714. In the meantime, 27 covid patients have made full recovery and were discharged from home isolation to improve the figure of recovered cases of covid-19 to 42,298 in Sikkim.

As per the IDSP report there are now 146 active cases of coronavirus in Sikkim, in which three covid patients are currently admitted in ICU facilities and two covid patients are in HDU facilities of hospitals.

Three new covid patients have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours taking the number of covid patients in hospitals to 26 in Sikkim. On a note of relief, no new covid deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours in Sikkim to hold the covid-19 related death toll at 489.

In continuation of the covid vaccination drive, Sikkim administered precaution doses to 168 persons and the second dose of Covishield vaccine to two persons in the above 18 years category on Tuesday.
