Cylothon and Plog-Run in Namchi

Namchi, 02 Feb: Namchi Municipal Council, as part of its engagements under the Fit India Movement, organized a Cyclothon and a Plog-Run at Namchi Central Park Tuesday morning. The two programmes,

which went on for around two hours, had Additional District Collector Satyan Pradhan as chief guest and served the dual purpose of promoting fitness and cleanliness. The Cyclothon had ten participants from in

and around Namchi and covered a distance of 4 KMs from Central Park to View Point on Bhanjyang

Road and back. Sabitri Rai, the only female participant in the cyclothon, came first and received a strong

applause at Central Park when she cycled back. She covered the distance in 20 minutes. For the Plog, 15 participants, all staff members of Namchi Municipal Council, covered Jorethang Road, moved uphill to Gandhi Park, downhill of Namchi District Hospital, Namchi DAC Road and back to Central Park Namchi. They carried degradable plastic bags and a pair of degradable plastic gloves and cleared solid and dry garbage found littered along the route. All the participants, of both the cyclothon and the

plog run, were feted with khadas and certificates for their spirit.
