Daily cases continue in single-digits for Sikkim

Gangtok, 21 Jan:

Five persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in the State taking the state’s tally of confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported so far to 6,062.

Meanwhile, the figure of recovered Covid patients reached 5,688 with the discharge of 17 more Covid patients on Wednesday.

The number of active Covid cases in Sikkim has further come down to 148, of whom three are currently admitted in the ICU facility of the COVID-dedicated STNM Hospital.

In his daily health bulletin on Thursday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia informed that the five new cases were picked up in the testing of 241 samples on Wednesday.

He stated that all the cases were detected in RT-PCR testing of 172 samples, while all nine samples in TrueNat and 60 in rapid antigen testing returned negative for COVID-19.

While providing details of the new cases, Mr Bhutia informed that one person from Sama-Lingdum and one from Tadong in East District and one person from Wok-Tumlok, one from Thangsey Road and one from Kamrang in South District were found positive for COVID-19.

As for the vaccination carried out on Thursday, he informed that a total of 291 persons were vaccinated today - 99 in East District, 66 in West District and 54 in North District.

He added that 792 persons have been vaccinated so far in Sikkim.
