Daily Covid infections remain in single digits in Sikkim

Gangtok, 12 Jan:

Seven persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Sikkim taking the state’s tally of confirmed cases to 5,996 on Tuesday.

On the other hand, 16 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from isolation to further improve the figure of recovered cases in the State to 5,459.

There are now 313 active cases of novel coronavirus in Sikkim, of whom three are currently admitted in the ICU facility of the COVID-dedicated STNM Hospital.

In the daily health bulletin on Tuesday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia, informed that the seven new cases were detected from the testing of 190 samples on Monday - four in RT-PCR testing of 123 samples, one in TrueNat testing of 12 samples and two in rapid antigen testing of 55 samples.

Of the seven new cases, six were detected in East District and one reported from South Sikkim.

While providing details of the new cases, he informed that three persons from Pakyong, one from Tingmoo, one from MG Marg, one from Aritar, and one from Palum in South District were found positive for COVID-19.
