Darj boy wins Online Spel lBee Competition by SRM Univ

Gangtok, 11 Mar: Spellbound 21, a Spelling Bee Competition, was successfully organised by the Department of English, SRM University Sikkim on 11 Mar, 2021, a press release informs. Following the success of the first competition in 2019, the second edition of the event was organised in the online mode. The programme started with a special address by Vice Chancellor Ch Satish Kumar who

encouraged students to come forward and participate in more activities to ensure their all-round

development. He further said, “Once we perfect the online model for spelling bee contests, we can extend the competition to not only Sikkim and surrounding areas but the entire northeastern

region.” Carefully structured into three competitive rounds of increasing complexity, the contest

registered participation from 13 schools from Sikkim and North Bengal. The spelling bee champion

for 2021 was Apil Subba of St. Robert's School, Darjeeling. He received a trophy and a cash award.
