Don’t share video of Jantar Mantar dharna, appeals Sikkim Police

GANGTOK, 12 Sept:

Sikkim Police has appealed to people not to respond or share the video on the dharna and interview given by two individuals at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The police have assured to tackle the matter legally.

It may be mentioned that recently a video went viral on social media where two individuals claiming to hail from Bihar have said that they are sitting on a protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, demanding the removal of Article 371F.

In a press conference on Sunday, DIG Range, Tashi Wangyal Bhutia said that the people of Sikkim have been hurt by the protest and interview given by two individuals at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. However, he added that many have made this video viral by sharing and commenting on it which may create disturbance in the State.

While appealing to the people not to respond to this viral video in social media, he said that a case has already been registered at Sadar Thana and the police will take all appropriate legal action.

The matter will be taken up legally as the complaint of those individuals is of personal nature and sharing it on a public forum and speaking in favour of or against any community may create problem and disturbance in the State, stated the DIG.

Superintendent of Police [Gangtok], Tenzing Loden Lepcha mentioned that the case has been registered under the section of 153 A, 505 sub section 2 and 34 of IPC and is under investigation. He informed that the complaint has been made by Sikkimey Moolniwasi Suraksha Sangh.
