Five arrested for alleged attack on SDF convoy

Claiming that police is working responsibly to maintain law and order, Superintendent of Police, Gangtok, Tenzing L. Lepcha today said that the police have arrested all accused in the alleged attack on Sikkim Democratic Front president, Pawan Chamling’s convoy on Monday.

Speaking at a press conference at Gangtok's Sadar police station on Tuesday, Gangtok district SP,Mr Lepcha said that three separate FIRs have been registered by SDF alleging stone pelting on SDF convoy at Namnang road, attack on Rajesh Waling and Vikas Rai in front of Sadar Police Station and stone pelting on cars below High Court of Sikkim. All those named in the FIRs have been arrested, he said.

A counter FIR has also been registered at Sadar Police Station by Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party. Five accused have been arrested and all have been released on bail. The incident is being investigated and there is possibility of further arrests, he added.
