Fourth consecutive day of no new Covid infections in Sikkim
Gangtok, 03 Apr:
No new Covid infections were recorded in Sikkim for the fourth consecutive day today, and the icing on this reassuring update was news that not only were there no Covid deaths in the past 24 hours but also confirmation that one of the only two Covid patients in hospital was discharged not only from ICU, but hospital itself.
As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim issued by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department Sunday morning, with two more Covid patients making full recoveries, there are now only six active cases in the State, only one of whom, currently in ICU at CRH-Tadong, is down with severe symptoms. The other five are either asymptomatic or have only mild symptoms.
In the past 24 hours, all the 153 samples screened for Covid returned negative.
Meanwhile, on the vaccination front, 492 children age group between 12 to 14 received their corBEvax shots. A total of 8,194 in this age-group have already received the first shot, covering 31.51% of their population estimated at 26,000.
Also yesterday, 169 children the 15-18 age-group received Covaxin shots, 80 getting their first shot and 89 completing their vaccination schedule with the second jab.
Likewise, 74 doses of Covishield were administered to the adult population, 19 first doses and 55 second shots.
Another 101 people received the precautionary third dose yesterday.
