GNLF to lobby in Delhi for PPS,will stand against violence

Darjeeling, 26 Jul: Continuing the season of asking the BJP to deliver on its Permanent Political

Solution promised to the Darjeeling, the Darjeeling branch president of the GNLF, Ajoy Edwards,

today informed a press briefing that he will be leaving for Delhi soon to pursue the PPS demand

with the BJP’s central leadership and the Central Government. The GNLF has been supporting the BJP and helping it win elections in the Hills and Mr Edwards today announced that if a PPS is not delivered

during the current BJP MP from Darjeeling, Raju Bista’s term, then, “the BJP can forget about Darjeeling,” implying that GNLF’s support for the saffron party will then be discontinued. Mr Edwards also announced today, that the GNLF will not instigate or support violence in the Hills. GNLF leaders will lead from the front and make the required sacrifices and not launch or manage aandolans over WhatsApp. This was clearly a snarky comment on how the GJM president, Bimal Gurung, had managed the last round of Aandolan in the Hills.
