Gangtok, 21 Jan:

Additional Chief Secretary, GP Upadhyaya, today shared the decision of the State Government to award scholarships worth Rs 47 lakh under the Chief Minister’s Civil Services Coaching Scheme for the academic year 2021-22. Thanks to this initiative of the State Govt formalized today, 50 IAS aspirants will receive the opportunity to undergo coaching from ALS IAS with their fees covered by the scholarship.

ALS IAS is India’s largest IAS coaching network, a press release from the Education Department informs, and has more than 75 centers across the country including 25 in the North East.

The coaching institute has seen more than 3,000 of its students clear the UPSC till date, 170 of them doing so last year itself.

ALS has also received similar scholarships from the governments of Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Manipur in the past.

Meanwhile, ALS National Sales Head, Prateek Bhattacharya, has announced scholarship worth Rs 23 lakh for 25 aspirants under the institute’s CSR Initiative for youth of Sikkim.

With this, 75 IAS aspirants from Sikkim will be able to receive coaching at ALS free of cost this year.

The Scholarship Exam will be conducted on 31 January at all the District Headquarters of Sikkim under the supervision of the respective District Collectors.

Application forms will be made available online on from 22 January onwards with 28 January being the last date for submissions.

Results will be generated on 03 February and batches will begin coaching from 08 February at Nar Bahadur Bhandari Degree College.
