Group of women protest against Bhaichung in Namchi, burn effigy

Even as people across the state are following all lockdown protocols, a group of about 17-19 women, led by Babita Subba of Namchi who is an active member of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha’s Nari Shakti, gathered in Central Park today shouting slogans against Bhaichung Bhutia, the vice president of Hamro Sikkim Party.

The women were carrying placards that read 'We welcome government's decision to bring hospital in Veterinary Ground,' and 'stop playing with emotions of Sikkim people'. The protest was claimed by “South Sikkim Nari Sangh”.

The women also burnt an effigy of Bhaichung Bhutia in the public square while shouting “Bhaichung Murdabad”.
