Junior Olympic Games concludes at Rhenock

Gangtok, 03 Mar: The first block levelInter School Junior Olympic Games under 'Sports for Peace & Development 2021' of Khelo India concluded today at the playground of

Tarpin Secondary School under Rhenock constituency of East Sikkim. More than 300 students of Tarpin Secondary School, Sudunglakha Secondary School, Mulukey Secondary School

and Rhenock Junior High School participated in the games. The games, which had started on 26 Feb, was organized by the Departmentof Sports and Youth Affairs Rhenock

BAC with the support of Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India. Students under the age of 17 and under 14 participated in the block level sports competitions in

athletics, archery, boxing, football, table tennis, taekwondo, badminton and karate. The chief guest in today's program was Area MLA, Bishnu Kumar Khatiwada who was accompanied by Rhenock

BDO, RK Gurung, Panchayat President, Bhusan Adhikari amongst others. MLA, Mr Khatiwada in his address congratulated and thanked the organizing team. He said that many talents in the

area have been identified through the program and he is confident that they will make the constituency and state proud in the coming days. He said that the current

government is a government that believes in all-round development and implements programs that do so. He advised the children of Sikkim to take full advantage of the opportunity

and shine in sports. State boxing coach, Pratima Gooroong, who is in charge of the games, thanked the headmasters of different schools, Panchayats, BDO, MLA, students and the Sports
