Launching of One Nation One Ration Card and Fair Price Shops Automation

The Chief Minister, Sikkimin the presence of Minister, F&CSD and UDD, Chairperson State Food Commission, Advisor F&CSD, Chief Secretary, Govt of Sikkim and other dignitaries from Department of Food & Public Distribution, Govt of India and NIC Delhi and Sikkim virtually launched the implementation of One Nation One Ration Card and Fair Price Shops Automation through e-POS devices in the State of Sikkim at SammanBhawan, Gangtokon 28 Jul, 2021.

The Department of Food & Civil Supplies Government of Sikkim is implementing the flagship program of Prime Minister of India to implement Nationwide portability of the PDS commodities under National Food Security Act, 2013 through “One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC)” which aims to provide an option to all NFSA (AAY & PHH) beneficiaries to lift their entitled food-grains from any part of the country by using their existing Ration Card with Aadhaar authentication on e-POS Devices installed in all Fair Price Shops.

The launching of One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) Scheme and Automation of FPSin North District by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies Government of Sikkim was convened virtually in the Video Conference Hall ofthe District Collector North by the Additional Political Secretary to CM, TsheringWangyalBhutia and the District Collector North, Tenzing T Kaleon.

The program was coordinated and attended by DCSO North, Palden N Lachungpa and the entire team of the Department of Food & Civil Supplies North District along with one FPS Owner and one beneficiary each under AAY and PHH Category.

The main aim and objective for the implementation of ONORC and FPS automation is to promote the transparency and accountability for the distribution of food grains under public distribution system. This will enable to lift ration from Fair Price Shops located anywhere in the country through flagship program ONORC. This will also ease the migrant workers to draw their entitled ration from FPSs located nearby their workplace.

The FPS automation through e-PoS devices has been categorically designed in view of difficult terrain of Sikkim with three mode of distribution.

Online distribution will carry through biometric authentication of beneficiaries under NFSA, 2013.Fully offline distribution in the dark zone or border areas where no internet connectivity is available.Partially/Hybrid distribution in the areas withfluctuating net
