Lossong Archery Tourney underway at Phythang near Pelliing in West Sikkim

Gangtok, 17 Dec:

Losoong open Archery Tourney underway at Pewthang, Pemayangtse near Pelliing in West Sikkim today.

The Tournament is organised by Khangchendzonga Motorcycle Club in association with West district Archery Association wherein Transport Chairman, Basant Tamang attended the event as the Chief Guest.

Speaking to the correspondent the Club Chief, Diwash Gurung informed that the club has been formed with an aims to serve the people and upliftment of deprived section of society after seeing various natural calamities we thought to form a club to support in the time of natural calamities and others. When Pandemic COVID-19 hit the world, we initiated the charity drive and mission to render support during the pandemic, various villages under west Sikkim was cut off from the main markets and ration supplies because of Nationwide Lockdown and we delivered essential commodities to the far-flung villages after obtaining the required official permission from the District authority.

Khangchendzonga Motorcycle Club frequently organises "Ride for cause initiative" to support the deprived section of society.

Archery Tournament is also an Annual charity fund raising event staring this year and the same will be followed up annually said a chief of Khangchendzonga Motorcycle Club, Diwash Gurung. The fund raised in the event will used and channelised for upcoming charity event, added Diwash Gurung. The tourney started on 04 December and will be concluded on 20 December with final Archery Tourney. We have chosen biking club as a medium to uplift and support the needy people by gather the liked minded people together in the club to support. It is mainly an initiative to support the society in need and reach out for needy one.

Another member, Meewang G Bhutia said that atleast three charity services in a year is our mission. We do three Charity works for society in need in a year compulsorily. Archery club and teams from various corner of State are taking part in this tournament.

Existing Phythang archery ground near Pelliing was ancient and historical place which was in ancient times Royal King Chogyal used to play the archery tournament here.

The first semifinal played between 'Green Tara' from Gangtok vs 'TAC Namchi' today was won by Green Tara Archery club Gangtok.

Chief Guest Transport chairman, Basant Tamang in his brief address; he lauded the initiative of KMC for bringing the traditional Archery sports. He expressed his gratitude to every members of KMC for taking charity event and supporting the society in need. He assured all possible supports for the charity mission of KMC. What they are doing is commendable said chairman.
