Minister lays foundation stone of TNSSS annexe block

GANGTOK, 26 Oct:

Minister to Urban Development Department, Arun Kumar Upreti laid the foundation stone of the annexe block at Primary Section of Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School here on Tuesday.

This annexe block is a multipurpose hall for mid-day meal and recreational activities for students of TNSSS. This multipurpose building is being built by senior architect and social worker, Kiran Rasaily, who is also a former student of this school.

On the occasion, TNSSS also observed the International Artist Day 2021 with an Art Exhibition displaying paintings of renowned artists from Sikkim namely, Shiva Chettri, Sewan Rai and Kiran Rasaily, and also has a separate corner for paintings of TNSSS students.

In his address, the Minister, who is also a former student of TNSSS, shared some of his memories as a student and expressed that TNSSS provided a great platform in the early days to develop his skills and talents.

“Being a former student of the school, I will provide all possible help for the betterment of TNSSS and its students,” he expressed.

He also assured to provide all possible help from the government's side as well. He also appreciated the initiative of Kiran Rasaily to build a multipurpose hall for the school.

The Minister encouraged students to stay away from bad habits and unproductive activities. He urged them to give an hour to exercise every day to make Sikkim a healthy state.

Education Department Director [Primary Education]-cum-State Project Director of SSA, Bhim Thatal, who is also a former student of TNSSS, expressed that the school has produced the top bureaucrats, technocrats, politicians, artists and great personalities in various fields.

On the same, he urged students to take this legacy of TNSSS further. He also encouraged alumni of the school to come forward for the betterment of the school and its students.

Likewise, Kiran Rasaily expressed his happiness on taking up the initiative. He urged former students to come forward to support this initiative. He urged students to work from the heart to be successful in life.

The function started with the welcome address by Principal TNSSS, Dr Saroja Pradhan and ended with the presentation of vote of thanks by teacher, Manika Sharma. The function also witnessed a cultural presentation by members of Interact Club of the school.
