Nali Fungwa Yakthung Sappsokiba Chumboo celebrates foundation day

Nali Fungwa Yakthung Sappsokiba Chumboo celebrated its foundation day today at Sombaria, West Sikkim.

A press release informs that Nali Fungwa Yakthung Sappsokiba Chumboo was established on 04 January 2016.

On the day, cultural programmes, essay writing, poetry and story writing competitions were held. The winners and runners up were awarded trophies and certificates by retired Joint Director [language], Education Department, SB Mangmoo, who was present as the chief guest.

In his address, Mr Mangmoo gave brief history of Limboo language and its development. He talked about renowned writers of Daramdin constituency such as Lt. M.B Nembang and Lt. T.B Nembang amongst others.

Chumboo president, BL Sawden gave a short welcome speech while general secretary, HB Pandhak gave a brief speech about the development of Chumboo.

A book by Bhim Prashad Setling [Assistant Professor of Namchi Govt. College] titled “The Worships and Rituals in Limboo Community” was also released on the day.

Vice general secretary of the Chumboo gave the vote of thanks.
