NAPDDR training held in Namchi jail

Gangtok, 26 Oct:

Sanjeevani Rehab Society, a registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), in association with Social Justice and Welfare Department (Welfare Division), Government of Sikkim held an orientation course and training of staff and inmates of prisons under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) at Namchi jail premises on 26 Oct, 2021.

Sr Psychiatrist, Dr Bishnu Sharma emphasized Mental Health & Behaviour change. Center In-Charge Sanjeevani Rehab Society, Binita Karki Pradhan spoke about family counseling.

Senior counselor, Sugam Gurung highlighted the issue of chemically dependency disease. Senior Superintendent of Namchi Jail, KL Tenzing mentioned in his speech that today’s program is very useful for the inmates. He also said that inmates should follow and practice the guidelines of today’s program.

Mr Tenzing thanked the Social Justice & Welfare Department (Welfare Division), Government of Sikkim for the support and thanked Sanjeevani Rehab Society for organizing this program for the staff and inmates of the jail.
