NHPC distributes scholarships to meritorious students

NHPC Teesta-V Power Station distributed scholarships to meritorious students under its Scholarship Award Scheme of CSR & SD on 23 March at its auditorium in Balutar, Gangtok District, a press release informs.

Minister of Commerce & Industries Department and Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, B S Panth, was present on the occasion as the chief guest and handed over the scholarships to 23 meritorious students.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Panth congratulated the students and applauded the gesture of NHPC to promote education among students and requested NHPC to consider enhancing the number of scholarships.

Executive Director, Teesta Region, S.P. Mukherjee, advised the students to work hard to achieve success in their lives and play a constructive role in nation building. Head of Power Station, Teesta-V PS, C.R. Das, thanked the district administration and local people for their constant support to the Power Station.

Under the NHPC Scholarship Award Scheme, the meritorious students were given scholarship of ₹2,40,000 per annum with an aim to promote education among underprivileged students, who cannot afford to pursue formal education, the release informs.

On this occasion, each meritorious student was handed over ₹48,000 as scholarship amount for the FY 2020-21 & FY 2021-22. Out of total 23 students who have received scholarships, 12 students are girls.

Head of the Teesta-VI Project, A K Dash, BDO-Khamdong, Tikendra Hari Sharma, Chairman, NHPC Coordination Committee, Prashant Pradhan, Senior officers of NHPC, local coordinators, students and their parents and other guests were present on the occasion.
