Nine new Covid cases, one death

Sikkim’s covid-19 related death toll reached 495 on Monday with one new covid death reported in the last 24 hours in the State. The new covid death of a 29-year-old woman from Buriakhop in West Sikkim has been reported from STNM hospital. The last covid death of a 43-year-old man from Gyalshing was reported from STNM hospital on 10 September.

On the other hand, the state recorded a daily positivity rate of 3.7% today with nine new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Sikkim. According to daily covid-19 report issued by Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department nine persons tested positive for covid-19 during the testing of 238 samples yesterday in the State. All nine new cases were reported in the rapid antigen testing of 136 samples. Of the nine new cases in the State, 03 were registered in Gangtok district, 01 in Pakyong district, 01 in Soreng district and four in Namchi district. Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of covid-19 is now standing at 43,920.

In the meantime, the number of active cases of coronavirus slipped to 60 on Monday with 16 covid patients being discharged from home isolation after their full recovery. The figure of recovered cases of covid-19 further improved to 42,581 in the State.

As per IDSP report, two covid patients are currently admitted in ICU facility and one covid patient is in HDU in the state. Likewise, two new covid patients have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours in the State.
