No new Covid cases for fifth consecutive day in Sikkim

Gangtok, 24 May:

Sikkim remained free from new Covid infections for the fifth straight day today, and with no new recoveries either in the past 24 hours, the State continues to have four active Covid cases, one of whom is admitted in hospital while the rest are either asymptomatic or are nursing only mild symptoms and are recovering under home isolation.

As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department,after all the 101 samples screened for the virus returned negative yesterday, the State posted a 0% daily TPR for the fifth consecutive day.

Meanwhile, Sikkim’s Covid-related death continues to hold at 452 with no Covid fatality recorded here since 27 March nearly two months back.

Since testing for Covid began here on 28 Feb, 2020, a total of 39,165 cases of Covid have been recorded here. In the meantime, Sikkim’s figure of recovered cases stands at 37,962.

In continuation of the Covid vaccination drive, Sikkim administered 94 doses of CorBEvax to children aged between 12 to 14 years and 82 doses of Covaxin to children in the 15 to 18 years age-group on Monday. Likewise, a total of 53 adults took their regular Covishield shots while 219 received their precautionary third dose yesterday.
