No new Covid cases in Sikkim

With no new Covid cases recorded in the past 24 hours, Sikkim completed four consecutive days without adding to its cumulative tally of 39,161 cases detected since testing began here on 28 Feb, 2020.

As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department on Tuesday morning, all the 63 samples screened for the virus returned negative today.

Most of the 63 samples were collected in East district [58] while only one sample was tested in West Sikkim and four in North district. No samples were collected or tested in South Sikkim in the past 24 hours.

With no new recoveries in the past 24 hours either, the State continues to have seven active Covid cases, only one of whom is admitted in hospital and the rest are recovering under home isolation. All seven cases are reported to have either mild Covid symptoms or are asymptomatic.

Sikkim’s Covid death toll continues to hold at 452 with the State not having reported a Covid death since 27 March earlier this year.

Also yesterday, Sikkim administered 414 doses of CorBEvax vaccine to children aged between 12 to 14 years and 126 doses of Covaxin to those in the 15 to 18 age-group. Likewise, 34 adults received their regular Covishield shots while 69 took the precautionary third dose,
