No new Covid infections in Sikkim today

No new Covid infections were recorded in the State for the second consecutive day today. With this, 16 of April’s 20 days thus far have returned zero daily cases. The fact that Sikkim has not recorded any Covid deaths since 27 March last month brings more reason to cheer when it comes to the pandemic.

As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim issued by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department, all the 179 samples screened yesterday returned negative and the tally of confirmed cases of Covid-19 since testing began on 28 Feb, 2020, continues to hold at 39,148.

On the other hand, the number of recovered cases also continues to hold at 37,946 with no new recoveries reported in the past 24 hours. Sikkim’s current recovery rate stands at 98.8%.

At present, there are three active cases of Covid in the State, one of whom, an under-18 year old, continues to be admitted in hospital while the other two are recovering under home isolation.

Meanwhile, a total of 135 children aged between 12 to 14 were vaccinated with corBevax yesterday and 108 children in the 15 to 18 years age-group received their Covaxin shots here. 73 adults received their Covishield shots while 105 received their precautionary third doses yesterday in the State.
