One new case, one more recovery in Sikkim

The number of active cases of Covid-19 held at seven on Wednesday in Sikkim with one new case and one recovery being reported in the last 24 hours.

Of the seven Covid patients in the State, one minor is currently hospitalized in HDU facility at STNM Hospital while the rest are recovering under home isolations.

As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department on Wednesday morning, this one case was picked up from the screening of 115 samples yesterday.

This new case was detected in rapid antigen testing of 42 samples, while all the RT-PCR tests on 73 samples returned negative.

This new case was recorded after a gap of our days. Meanwhile, Sikkim’s Covid-19 death toll continues to hold at 452 with no Covid deaths reported in the State since 27 March.

On the vaccination front, 266 children aged between 12 to 14 years received CorBEvaxshots yesterday while 161 children between 15 to 18 years of age were vaccinated with Covaxin. Also, 28 adults took Covishield shots yesterday while 88 others took their precautionary third dose.
