One new Covid case after 3-day gap in Sikkim
Gangtok, 22 Apr:
Sikkim’s daily test positivity rate clocked in at 0.6% on Friday with one person testing positive for Covid-19 from the 158 samples screened in the last 24 hours. The state registered a new infection after a gap of three days.
As per the Daily Report of Covid-19 in Sikkim released by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of Health Department, today’s case was among the 75 samples put through rapid antigen testing while all the 83 samples screened through RT-PCR returned negative.
The tally of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Sikkim since testing began here on 28 Feb, 2020, has now reached 39,149.
The new case was registered in the South District and the patient admitted into Namchi District Hospital. At STNM Hospital in Gangtok, meanwhile, the only Covid patient admitted there for the past week was discharged yesterday. Apart from the patient at Namchi District Hospital, there is no Covid patient admitted in hospital at present.
Also in the past 24 hours, one Covid patient made a full recovery and with this, there continue to remain three active cases of Covid in the State.
Thus far, 37,947 people have beaten the virus in Sikkim to give it a current recovery rate of 98.8%.
Covid fatalities continue to hold at 452 with no Covid deaths reported in the State since 27 March last month.
In continuation of the Covidvaccination drive, Sikkim administered 539 doses of corBevax vaccine [307 first dose & 232 second dose] to children aged 12 to 14 years and 77 doses of Covaxin [28 first dose & 49 second dose] to the children between 15 to 18 years of age on Thursday. Similarly, 70 persons were vaccinated with Covishield and 102 persons got their precautionarythird dose in the State yesterday.
