Only one new case and 927 more vaccinations in Sikkim


Gangtok, 25 Feb: The number of active cases of novel coronavirus in Sikkim dropped further to 43 with the discharge of five more COVID patients from isolation facilities in the last 24 hours today. The number of recovered cases has accordingly proved to 5,858. In the meanwhile, only one new case of novel coronavirus was reported in the last 24 in Sikkim taking the state’s tally of confirmed cases reported

so far to 6,133. In his daily health bulletin, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyalshing Bhutia, informed that the one new case, a JP Company employee stationed at Sirwani-Singtam,

was picked up from the testing of 174 samples on Wednesday. As for the ongoing vaccination drive, 927

persons, which includes 277 healthcare workers and 650 frontline workers, were vaccinated for

COVID-19 today. Mr Bhutia informed that 130 healthcare workers and 10 frontline workers received

their shots at Central Referral Hospital, 70 frontline workers at Rhenock SSB camp, 160 frontline workers at Pangthang, 75 at ITBP Sang, 91 healthcare workers and one frontline worker at STNM

Hospital and 08 healthcare workers and 132 frontline workers at Urban PHC, Gangtok in

East District. In North Sikkim, six healthcare workers and 23 frontline workers were vaccinated

at Passingthang PHC while 42 healthcare workers and 179 frontline workers received their shots at Jorethang CHC in South District.
