Only one new Covid case andinfections continue to drop in Sikkim

GANGTOK, 22 Jan: Sikkim has reported an only new case of novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours. One person from 9th Mile Gyalshing in West District was tested positive for COVID-19. Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 is now stands on 6063, of which 5697 patents have already been recovered and discharged from home and facility isolations in the State. It has to be mentioned here that nine more patients of COVID-19 were recovered on Thursday in Sikkim. The active cases of novel coronavirus in Sikkim have further decreased to 140, of whom three are currently in ICU facility of COVID-dedicated STNM hospital.

In his daily health bulletin on Friday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia informed that the only cases reported in the last 24 hours was from West District, which was reported from the testing of 165 samples on Thursday. He added that one person was found positive for COVID-19 in the rapid antigen testing of 43 samples, while RT-PCR testing of 116 samples and TrueNat testing six samples were reported negative for COVID-19.

While giving details of COVID vaccination carried out on Friday, Mr Bhutia a total of 187 persons, 37 in North District, 90 in East District and 60 in West District, were vaccinated today in the State.
