Pemayangtse archers lift Rapzor Lepcha Memorial Compound Archery Cup

Mangan, 15 Jan:

Pemyangtse archers outshot Green Tara at Namprikdang Ground on Friday to lift the Rapzor Lepcha Memorial Compound Archery Cup.

The final match had Power Deaprtment advisor, Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, who is also the area MLA, present as the chief guest accompanied by Barfung MLA TT Bhutia.

The tournament had begun on 08 January and was organized by the North District Archery Association in collaboration with Late Mondal Rapzor Lepcha Trust.

The late Rapzor Lepcha was associated with many developmental works, education and socio-religious activities during his tenure as Mondal in the 1970s. He was the first primary school teacher of Pentong Primary School, and later, in 1949, started Tingvong School from his house and also played an important role in the establishment and development of Tingvong Monastery.

The final day’s festivities included a colorful cultural presentations presented by students of Dorjee Daayang Tutorial Institute of Pentok-Mangan.

Also on the day, North District Archery Association and Mondal Rapzor Leocha Trust felicitated Thupden Rongkup, a well known archer and had participated in the Junior World Cup Archery Tournament in France in 1993.
