Phurba from Lingmoo win’s women’s marathon in Kolkata

Long-distance runners from Sikkim and Darjeeling delivered an outstanding performance at the Ageas Federal Life Insurance Kolkata Marathon 2021 on Sunday.

Phurba Tamang from Lingmoo, South Sikkim, emerged champion of the women’s full marathon [42.2 km] with a timing of 3 hours and 58 minutes while Anish Majhi from Mirik, Darjeeling, stood 3rd in the half marathon [21.1 km] and Shiva Hang Limbu from West Sikkim ran in 4th in the full marathon of 42.2 km.

Likewise, Monang Limbu from Sikkim stood on the 6th position in 10 KMs and Passang Doma Bhutia from Darjeeling finished the 21.1 KM marathon in 6th position.

Dr Sudarsan Tamang of Sikkim University stood second in men’s category of the half marathon of 21.1 KM with a timing of one hour and 22 minutes.

Marathon Man, Amar Subba, himself stood fifth in the open category of the half marathon with a timing of 1:32 hours.
