Prabhakar Golay takes office as West District Cricket Committee president
Gangtok, 27 Jul: Prabhakar Golay has been elected president of West District Cricket Committee of
Sikkim Cricket Association [SICA]. The election was conducted in a meeting held at Pelling, West
Sikkim, on 26 Jul, a press release informs. The meeting was chaired by president SICA, Lobzang G Tenzing and co-chaired by treasurer SICA, Naresh Kr Agrawal. The meeting was also attended by Chairman PHE Department, Hari Narayan Subedi, Additional Political Secretary to CM (West), Madhusudan Sharma, Garib Jankalyan Prakosta Advisor, Deepesh Bhandari amongst others.
The newly elected executive body of WDCC has Ugen Palzor Bhutia as vice president, Samir
Tewari as secretary, Abhishek Pandey and Dil Bir Subba as joint secretaries and Chandan
Kr Gupta as treasurer, the release mentions. The meeting was addressed by Ringzing Namgyal Bhutia, KN Bhutia and Naresh Kr Agrawal wherein each of them spoke on different topics like district body responsibilities, head office and district coordination and SICA financial rules and regulations. The new president, Mr Golay, gave his acceptance address and promised to work sincerely for development of cricket in West district. He along with the new secretary have also decided to revamp the organisation. Two cricket bowling machines were handed over to the new president for Soreng subdivison. President SICA, in his address, stressed on building a strong district body which, he said, is the essence and foundation of all sports bodies. The transparency and efficiency of SICA has been recognised by all and it is the duty and responsibility of the younger generation to take it forward, he added. He said that

The president thanked the ad-hoc committee, sponsors and dignitaries of West district for their support and expressed hope that they will continue to support cricket development in West Sikkim. President SICA also visited Kyongsa ground to oversee the current SICA trials and coaching camp. He and treasurer SICA along with other members visited the office of WDCC. He sanctioned the rent and office furniture for WDCC .
