Promotional venture documentary starts in Sikkim to amplify the state’s eco-tourism

MLA-Rhenock Constituency, Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara accompanied by Chairman for Housing & Development Board, Karma Tashi Bhutia, Government of Sikkim accorded the team of professional tourism marketers from West Bengal with a warm reception at the Ani Monastery at Pachak, under Rhenock Constituency on 06 Dec, 2020. Present on the occasion were Additional Director (Retd), Madan Kumar Pradhan, Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Narayan Pradhan (State Tourism Awardee), an ace eco-tourism promoter of Sikkim, local Panchayats, local tourism entrepreneurs and public. Knowing that the current pandemic has adversely affected the tourism industry across the World and Sikkim being no different has suffered tremendous losses.

The tourism entrepreneurs of Sikkim are now looking for promoting their destinations right from the scratch. The team is an expert in electronic and digital marketing and has their expertise in tourism marketing since past 18 years. They carry enormous experiences when it comes to promotion of tourism of many States and foreign countries like Singapore Tourism Board, Jordan Tourism Board, Egypt, Bangladesh Tourism Board and so on. Anirban Dutta, leading the team is actively working since last 2 years documenting and developing an app exclusively on homestays and village tourism in the Eastern Part of India including Sikkim. His long term vision is to promote Sikkim as an Eco-tourism, film shooting and homestay destinations in 2021. He majorly focuses on promotion of rural tourism of the State in the national and international diaspora through extensive use of electronic and digital media. There are many unknown and offbeat villages in Sikkim having immense rural tourism potential but the lack of proper training and marketing has caused a major setback for the local villagers. This team is dedicated in providing a platform to those rural destinations and homestay owners aspiring to venture their rural tourism businesses in the national/international mainstream. The Budaang Village under Rhenock Constituency has been selected by the team as one of the prime destinations in their promotional venture. Under the close guidance and direction of Area MLA, Rhenock Constituency the team would be spending few nights at Budaang Village in preparing a documentary film using their latest electronic gadgets of popular tourist attractions and activities of the village.

The team started their documentary shoot from Rolep and Loosing Villages under 21-Gnathang Machong Constituency on 02 Dec, 2020 with the keen initiatives of Area In-charge of the said Constituency, Tshering Bhutia who is passionate about highlighting the rural places falling within his constituency with a special focus on Chochen Pheri Tribal Village as its unique selling proposition.

Further, the team has almost a month long itinerary wherein all four districts of the State would be covered in their documentary shoot highlighting the lesser known destinations along with those already in the limelight. The State Government led by visionary leader - CM, Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), has envisioned and he lays down greater importance towards the promotion of rural tourism of the State. The team would be later meeting to interview few important dignitaries of the State.
